I can’t tell you how much I agree with Danelle‘s Post on her blog posts Girls & Modesty: Parents- Say NO to Kids’ Immodest and Trashy Summer Clothes and her other one one  Girls & Modesty: Kids’ Clothes Should NOT Have Sex Appeal

There was a recent festival in the area that we went to as a family.  I cant tell you how many kids were wearing clothes I wouldn’t let my kids wear.  One group in particular looked like they were about 12 or 13 wearing these…shorts? I guess they were shorts but they looked more like my boy short undies. Their ass cheeks were literally hanging out the bottom and they were like spandex.  They also all had on tank tops that were pretty revealing up top.  I couldn’t believe that that many parents would buy clothes like that for their kids.  I understand kids want to fit in and wear trendy clothes.  Im all for that. But when your underage and your ass is hanging out in full view of everyone, I have to draw the line.

I don’t know why so many girls need to wear revealing clothes to get attention.  Even on kids tv shows I hear them talking about how an outfit is “hot” or “sexy”.  Yeah, don’t want to see a 9 year old in anything hot or sexy.

I think a lot of parents just let their kids wear the clothes because they figure if it is there in the store available to buy, it is ok for the kids to wear.  Or maybe they do it because they figure thats what all the other kids are wearing.

I see it in Tonys daughter already and she is only 9.  She always has to “look good”.  She is already concerned with body image and what everyone is wearing. I was very suprised that when she saw Miley Cyrus on whatever awards show where she danced on the ice cream truck that she thought Miley’s skirt was way to short.  At least the DD knows what skirt lengths are appropriate.

I also really like that the DD’s school implemented a rule that if you wear a skirt or dress to school, you MUST wear leggings under it.

What are your thoughts on how kids are dressing these days?
