Today we woke up thinking my dad would be released from the hospital. We got up, at some breakfast and waited for my dad or the doctors to call.

Eventually we called my dad who said nobody seemed to know anything so we just decided to go to the hospital and check it out. They were waiting for the doctor to review his case and talk to his regular primary doctor. They said his COPD is really bad and that in combination with the pneumonia makes them want to keep him another day. They also found nodules when they did his catscan but since they don’t have his prior ones to compare it to they don’t know what “normal” is for him. They already faxed copies to his regular doctor and my dad will see her as soon as he gets home. All his regular doctors know he has some nodules, but when they did a biopsy and removed 1/3 of his one lung back in 2006 everything came back non-cancer, but they didn’t know exactly what it was, and still don’t. His regular doctor will compare the results of this one to all his old ones to make a clearer determination as to what is going on.
He isn’t hooked up to any monitors so at least he can get up and walk around now. He gets his breathing treatment every six hours and they seem to take blood work every two hours so he still isn’t getting much sleep.

We didn’t ever take the “after” pictures today, so I will try to get some tomorrow. You know boys, they hate having their pictures taken!
