Guest Blogging Secrets CoverGuest AuthorYou are a great writer. Your readers love your blog posts. You know that you can gain even more exposure if you get some of your articles published on high authority niche sites. So why aren’t other bloggers responding to your guest posting inquiries?

The problem isn’t that you can’t write great content. The issue is probably that you need to write a better pitch. Your outreach email needs to tell the host blogger what value you can bring to their site. Here are some common mistakes bloggers make:

  • You don’t use the blogger’s name. You need to show that you have taken the time to research the blog.
  • You don’t suggest topics that are a good fit for the host site. You need to remember that the host site has a different audience with different expectations.
  • You don’t take time to build trust with the blogger in the email or after publication.

The biggest mistake of all – you don’t talk about who you are and what value you bring to the site. Some bloggers receive dozens of guest article pitches from spammy linkbuilders every day. You need to tell them what sets you apart. What are your credentials? What posts have you written before? Show that you are an expert in your field and any serious blogger will love to accept a guest post from you.

Writing a guest blogging outreach email isn’t always easy, but you will definitely be glad that you took the time to do it right!

I come to you via UBC! I think one of the hardest things most people encounter is finding the ability to effectively pitch themselves in a high praise manner. Selling yourself for some of us is the hardest product we will ever have to sale. Great post!

Exactly, as bloggers we often praise brands, other bloggers etc, but we find it so hard to tell others how awesome we are!

Great suggestions for reaching out to a blogger to do guest posts. I’ve been very blessed to have this opportunity without having to do the pitch, it seems. Very nice to learn that to do so. Thank you!

I often get people wanting to guest post on my blog, but most don’t have good grammar or want to link to a site that doesn’t relate to anything I talk about. So guest posts for me are kind of annoying. LOL
