Office

Six Jobs I’ve Had

1. Cashier at two different Dress Barns

2. Cahier at Old Navy

3. Summer Camp Counselor

3. Desk Clerk in the Resident Hall Association Office.  It was the Movie/game/vacuum rental place on campus.

4. A Color Digital Press Operator for a Printing Company

5. A Digital Press Operator for a bigger Printing Company

How many times have you been fired?
zero

How many times have you quit?
The first Dress Barn I left because I was going away for the summer to take art classes out of the area.  The second Dress Barn I left because I was going away to college. I left the Res Hall job because I graduated college. I quit the first printing company because they weren’t great to work for, and I wanted more money!

Did you go to school for any of the jobs you worked?
I went to school for digital media arts. so…. yes it helps me with digital printing. I can fix files and all that jazz but its technically not my job. That is prepress’s job. If they want me to do prepress work they need to pay me the same amount that a prepress operator is making.

Worst job you ever had?
Summer Camp. I’ve never been drawn to kids. I don’t know what to say or how to play with them.  It didn’t help that one year they gave me kiddie camp – 3 and 4 year olds.  I had kids that weren’t all potty trained yet.  Another kid kept cutting people’s hair in art class.  As much as I wasn’t all that into kids, they were into me.  I was the counselor that was carrying two kids with another 3 tugging at my shirt. They said I was the nice one. The other counselor tended to be a little more strict.  One of the camps I worked you worked all summer and didn’t get a single pay check until the end of summer.  Do you know what that does to a young adults social life? I ended up working fulltime at summer camp during the day, and full-time at Old Navy at night!

Best job you ever had?
Working in that res Hall office. We had a computer, TV and DVD player. Not that many people came in, so we got to just hang out most of the evening!

Dream job?
Working for myself.
