Jord LogoThe creators of JORD watches wanted to design a watch that would take people back to nature and away from todays metal and rubber.  They also wanted to create a watch that could become a focal point for fashion.   They decided to create watches made from sustainable,  diverse woods from all over the world. Due to the nature of the wood chosen for each unique timepiece, colors and grain pattern may, so two watches are never the same.

Fun Tidbit: JORD is Swedish for earth, soil, land

When JORD asked me to review one of their featured watches, for free, I chose the Ely in maple.  It was also available in natural green & maple, black, and cherry. Ely Front Angle Stock PhotoThe Ely series has an elegant, small-face design.  Despite being wood, the watch is very lightweight.

Here are some other features:

  • Hardened, Scratch-proof glass face: 26mm diameter
  • Frame / bezel: 34mm diameter
  • Band width: 21.5mm
  • Lug ends: 40mm
  • Single action locking clasp (stainless steel)
  • Premium Citizen Miyota movement with date window

It is easy to see that JORD takes great pride in their work.  For me, it is the simple, little things that impress me.  The first thing I noticed was the great customer service. Sometimes when I agree to do a review it can take weeks for the company to ship an item. Within a few hours of agreeing to the review, I had a shipping confirmation email which included a USPS tracking number.  Then my watch actually arrived three days earlier than expected! Ely JORD watch in Box When the package arrived, I was eager to open it. Inside the package was a beautiful black and grey box with their logo on it in metalic silver.  When I opened the box I was surprised to see the watch delicately resting on a pillow.  Underneath the pillow was a card for warranty another encouraging customers to use #JORDwatch on social media to be featured on the website, as well as possible win some cool prizes Ely Jord Watch BackI love how easy this watch is to open and close, you just squeeze a tab on the back of the watch and the metal clasp opens.   To close, you just lay each side back on the stainless steel clasp and snap it down.

Ely JORD Watch on Wrist

My Ely watch arrived a little too big for my wrist.  JORD watches are designed to have links added or removed. JORD recommends taking your new watch to a local jeweler. Jewelers who service watches will be able to size your watch accordingly.  With training for a new position at work, and my parents being in town for a week, I just haven’t had the chance to get it sized yet. I have read that other reviewers were able to do it themselves at home but  I am nervous to try because I don’t want to mess up this beautiful watch – I’d rather leave it to the professionals!

I was surprised how smooth and soft each part of the watch is.  I though for sure that it would have some rough edges or some nicks somewhere, but I couldn’t find any.  It is hard to believe that something so light, smooth could be wood.  I am really impressed with the quality and beauty of this watch.

JORD would like to give one of my readers their very own Wood watch!  Jord Ely GiveawayPlease enter using the GiveawayTools form below

Cool looking watches, but most are too big for me. I like the Ely best (so you can pick me!)
    Thanks for the contest.

So what does your watch say about you?
This simple question sparked an all-night, red-bull fueled session that ended in the purchase of “World of Woods In Color” by William Alexander Lincoln. True story…

We had a hard time choosing (my 10 year old son and I) but we chose the Sully in Black and Maple as our favorite 🙂 We would love to win this watch for my dad who is a logger. He has been working in the woods for over 35 years now and it’s his life… I know he would absolutely love this watch as it represents a part of who he is. Thank you so much for the chance to win such an amazing prize!

My favorite is the 746 SERIES Black & Maple, I love that you can see the inner mechanics of the watch.
