Me, Him and the Cats received a preview of a product, service, or topic mentioned in this post.

Chewy.com recently contacted me about doing another review for them. This time it was to review some of Nature’s Variety new line,  Pride by Instinct for free.

I received:

Below is an excerpt from a press release about Pride.

Instinct recently expanded its cat food offering with the launch of Pride by Instinct®, a full line of proteins inspired by the vibrant, quirky and bold personalities of cats. Pride by Instinct brings high quality nutrition and playful cat characters together in 12 recipes, with lion-sized personalities ranging from Ritzy and Sherlock to Lovebug and Diva.

“We had fun creating this line of foods and developing characters that best represent the unique personalities of cats,” said Melissa Werges, Pride by Instinct brand manager. “Cat parents love and appreciate how fun and novel their cats are. Pride by Instinct celebrates the diverse and expressive characteristics of cats.

“With this line we are focusing on the fun and playful nature cat parents appreciate, while still delivering the high-quality nutrition they demand for their cats,” Werges said. “It was important to us to create a variety of different textures and proteins that appeal to a wide range of cat palates.”  –  Nature’s Variety News – July 18, 2013

Just like other Nature’s Variety products were have tried,  Pride by Instinct, was a big hit with our cats.  As soon as they heard the cans pop open, they tried putting their paws up on the counter to get a better sniff.

After I had them sit down, like good little kitties, I put their bowls down for them to dig in.

Here is a video of the kitties eating

Sometimes when Jewel is halfway done with her food, she will walk away and lay down for a little while. When that happens, we pick her bowl up before the boy kitties can eat it on her.   She has a  certain meow that lets us know she is ready for the other half.  With the Nature’s Variety Pride by Instinct, she ate slowly, but she at the whole can in one sitting, even with Oliver hovering over her, trying to steal some.  We usually feed our cats a paté texture of canned food, so I think they enjoyed trying the new textures!

Even though I don’t have cats, if I did this food sounds incredible! I didn’t know there were gluten-free cats! I wondered how old my grandmother’s cat (Murrs) or my mom’s cats would have lived without grain in their cat food! I love your review Diane and the pictures are incredible! 5 stars!

My girl’s “Auntie” put some of this food into her Christmas basket and my girl loves it. She can still be picky from time to time but the duck and rabbit is her favorite! I always worry about some ingredients in some foods but feel very comfortable with this one.
