Fall is hands down my favorite season – the changing leaves, football, and comfort food on a chilly day.
We love using the slow cooker to start a meal in the morning and have it ready for dinner. Plus as an added bonus the smell of the food cooking is amazing. Now that we are waiting to closer on our first home, we have been busy packing up stuff all while working full time and doing all the normal day to day errands. With Tony and I currently working opposite shifts, making dinner is really hard. A slow cooker is a great way for us to share a meal, even if we are eating at different times. I throw stuff in the slow cooker when I get up and just leave it on low and it is ready for him when he gets home from work. After he eats, he will put leftovers in container(s) so I can eat it when I get home, or take it to lunch the next day.
RedPack wants to really focus on helping families find ways to have a hot meal waiting for them after a busy school / work day. Slow cookers definitely make mealtimes easier. What’s more, in most families there’s usually some delicious leftovers to freeze and reheat on another busy night! Using tomatoes in soups, stews and casseroles may also offer more nutrition than fresh. When tomatoes are heated, the antioxidant lycopene (linked to several health benefits) is released.
As part of this focus, Redpack will be hosting a promotion from Oct. 22 — Nov. 12 during which they will give away two slow cookers a day for three weeks on its Facebook page — that’s 44 Slow Cookers! Just go to facebook.com/redpacktomatoes to enter. In addition, one lucky winner will win a Slow Cooker grand prize package that includes a state-of-the-art slow cooker, a serving spoon and braising tongs (total prize value estimated at $330).
We always use RedPack tomatoes to make chili and homemade salsa and have even used it to make salads in the summer!
Not sure what to make in your slow cooker? RedPack offers some great recipes on their site. I am thinking of making Beef and Barley Stew this week with RedPack tomatoes. Stews are perfect for warming me up on a damp, cold day! Make sure you come back to see how the stew turns out! RedPack even sent me a free Slow Cooker Kit to get me started!
RedPack would like to offer one of my readers a Slow Cooker Recipe Kit, like I received, to help you create a slow cooker meal for your family!
