I have always been a fan of brushing my cats so their hair isn’t all over our furniture and carpets.   Since none of my cats are long haired, I never really thought much about trimming their hair. Like most pets, loud noises terrify them anyway.  I recently found out about the Scaredy Cut home grooming system for cats and dogs.

Scaredy Cut Pink KitScaredy Cut comes as a kit that contains quality barber scissors which have been adapted to use a hair clipper’s attachment guide combs.  The result is a silent hair clipper that can give a quiet, non-vibrating, even length trim to your pet.  The seven-piece kit includes six combs in sizes from one half to one inch and a pair of scissors with a comb holder. The combs are the very same combs used with electric clippers and are designed to glide through hair while resting on the skin and keeping the blades at a chosen distance for an even trim.

To get closer than a half an inch and for tight spots like the ear, nose, face and paw, the TINY TRIM™, a small scissor featuring a serrated blade to grip fine fur, is sold separately.

One thing I really liked was that the combs are pink or blue depending on which kit you purchase.  The bright color makes it easy to see exactly where your pets fur is.  I would imagine it would be really hard if the combs were black!

Here is everything I received to review:

The instructions are really easy:

Here is a demonstration video I found on YouTube with before and a before and after picture

I have been able to trim a few spots on Harley as well as Oliver, but since they are relatively short haired to begin with you can’t really see a difference.  Right now they are more interested in smelling and chewing the scissors so it is hard to get any of the cats to sit still long enough for me to do a good trim.  My plan is to just comb them with the combs on the scissors until they get used to seeing and feeling it, and then I will be able to give them a nice trim.

Scaredy Cut wants to give 3 of you the chance to win a Scaredy Cut of your own!

Thanks for letting us know about this. I always have a problem grooming Coco with the clippers and this looks like that would solve the problem. Coco was my mothers dog and when Mom passed away the dog came to live with us. She is a Havanese and a well behaved, affectionate dog with no bad habits. We have enjoyed having her live with us.

A very fluffy cat …. I also could have really used it on the border collie mix I was fostering a few weeks ago!

Ugh-I wish I had this last week lol! I have 5 cats and 3 of my boys have very thick medium to long hair and with their winter coats they have been getting mats even though we brush regularly. My one boy is especially scared of the small clippers I have and I feel terrible. Great product/giveaway thank you!

I’d love a way to trim my dog that doesn’t make a ton of noise (that spooks him) or gets so hot that he tries to run away. It does look like it would take a good minute to get through, though.

I have a Shih-Tzu which means lots of haircuts and trims! I’ve never taken her to a groomer, I have always groomed her myself. I would love to try a new product to make the task easier and this looks really promising. Fingers crossed!

I’d use these on all 3 of my buddies. We have a cat named Chase. Gracie is a king charles cavalier spaniel. Samson is a Great Dane/Mastiff.

I have 2 house dogs and a cat. The cat is an orange tabby… very short hair. So, not needed. But, the dogs.. one is a cocker spaniel and the other is a poodle mix. Could come in handy!

I’m not sure what kind of cat he is just that he’s white with very crazy fur. Mr. Sniff my grampa’s cat could really use this!
