Ever since I first moved to Buffalo in 2001 for college I have loved spicy foods. In fact I crave it. I’m sure it had something to do with all the Buffalo Chicken Subs and Wings I ate (well, still eat.). The thing is, I get bored with the same old mild, medium and hot sauces. I like to try to find unique flavors that are just a little different, but still spicy. That is why I am so glad that I have discovered Scotty B’s Gorurmet Hot Sauces! I was lucky enough to receive their award winning Berries in Heat to review.
I wasn’t sure what to expect, how could something with berries in it be spicy? Here is what their website has to say about Berries in Heat:
This unique, multiple award winning gourmet hot sauce was created in Scotty B’s home kitchen with the idea of making a fruit hot sauce using a medley of frozen berries that he had in his freezer. This new creation represented the first time Scotty B strayed from tomatoes, using vegetable juice instead. The changes did not stop with vegetable juice though, Scotty B also veered from the traditional path by using Serrano peppers. This combination of mixed berries with the unique spicy taste of the Serrano peppers makes this a very unique, one of a kind, guaranteed to tantalize your gourmet palate, hot sauce.
Enjoying some Berries in Heat in the Fan Cave! |
I first tried it by just letting some drip on my finger. When it first hit the front of my tongue I could taste the sweetness of the berries. A split second later I could taste the heat of the Serrano peppers further back on my tongue.
So far I have only tried the Berries in Heat sauce on chicken fingers but I can tell its going to be great on lots of things! I love this sauce! It is spicy enough that I feel the heat, but mild enough that I can keep on shoving food in my mouth. I will definitely be bringing this sauce tailgating with us! It would be awesome on steaks and burgers!
You should definitely follow them on Facebook and Twitter to find out more. Plus, following them just might be extra entries on an upcoming giveaway on this blog!

We have a chain restaurant that we go to in Georgia called Zaxby’s. Their sauces sure do entertain my tongue and it sounds like that Scotty B’s would too!
That sounds really good.
This would be the perfect dip for some jalapeno poppers!

I don’t know. I’m rather sceptical about adding sweet things to hot sauces, but I would try it.
