As a blogger, sometimes you see others reviewing things that you would love to have. If there is a giveaway offered you make sure you do every entry because you really want the product. One of those products is the Sleepypod Air. Over the years I have seen a bunch of reviews for various Sleepypod products, but I have always loved the Air. I was ecstatic when a member of their PR team contacted me and wanted to set up a review and giveaway for my readers back in December.
Superstorm Sandy really got me thinking about how we would transport our pets should we ever have to evacuate. We have three cats, but only two carriers. The night Sandy hit the NYC area I was seriously paranoid because even though we live in Western NY, we are very close to Lake Ontario. Parts of our town had already been evacuated because of high waves and minor flooding. Luckily we had no damage in our area, and therefore didn’t have to evacuate, but it was enough to scare me into knowing we had to get a third way to transport our kitties.
I wont lie; The Sleepypod Air is expensive – $159.99. However, the Sleepypod Air is the only airline approved pet carrier that redefines in-cabin pet travel. The Air adapts to the various under-seat storage requirements set by different airlines while providing maximum comfort for your jet set pet. Once the plane is in the air, Sleepypod Air can be expanded to allow a pet the largest possible space below an airline seat.
My cats get scared when they cant see what is going on, so the secure, durable mesh panel positioned on three sides was a huge plus for me. Most roomy carriers take up a lot of space but the Air is specifically designed to fold flat for easy storage. Another great feature is the Trolly Pocket which allows you to slide the Air over the handle of your rolling luggage. I love that for added versatility, seat-belt straps on two sides transform Sleepypod Air into a safe car seat. I love that it also has a removable and machine-washable Ultra Plush bedding mat. Sometimes Jewel gets a little carsick, so it is nice to know that I can just toss it in the wash.
Im not the only one who noticed how great this product its. Sleepypod Air has been awarded the Modern Dog Staff Pick Award (Spring 2011), Cat Fancy Editors’ Choice (2010), Dog Fancy Editors’ Choice (2010), and the Pet Business Industry Recognition Award (2010).
Below are some pictures I took of my kitties in the Sleepypod Air. Jewel was camera shy that day.

I don’t plan on flying with any of my cats, but it is nice to know I could keep them safe and secure in flight while still giving them enough room to be comfortable. I will definitely be using the Sleepypod Air for trips to the vet because I love how you can secure it in place by using the seat-belt. God forbid I was ever in an accident while the cats were in the car, I would want to know that their carriers wouldn’t be flying all over the place!
