We have all seen those infomercials on TV and thought “It’s too good to be true”.  I was recently given the opportunity to review the Sunny Seat.  You might have seen it on infomercials or advertised online already.  If not, you can view a short commercial below.

The night it came I put it up and right away Harley Jumped onto it. I was so nervous it would fall that I stood there the entire time waiting to catch him.
After letting Harley enjoy the view for a few minutes I put Jewel on it so she could test it out.  She didn’t seem to like it as much as Harley – I think because the middle sinks in a little.

I took it off the window a few minutes later so I could put the blinds down. We live in a first floor apartment and I didn’t want all the neighbors looking in all night!  The next morning I was eager to raise the blinds way up and try it out again!
I was surprised how well it was holding Harley so I sat down on the floor and started clipping and organizing all my coupons.  It held for about 20 minutes before the top suction cups popped off and he fell. Luckily the whole window seat, with him on it, fell into that green bed you see under the Sunny Seat in the photo above. Luckily he was not hurt and actually he seemed to enjoy the ride!  I left it down for a few days because I was scared that it would fall again with one of them on it. I cleaned the window again and reattached it.  Both cats were sleeping at the time, which was good because I wanted to see how long it would stay up without anyone on it.  After about 10 minutes I took the photo below.

As you can see the top left suction cup has already popped off. I reattached it and within a few minutes it had popped off again.  I must have reattached it 3 more times within 20 minutes. I finally gave up and took it down completely.

If anyone has any tips or tricks PLEASE let me know! I think this could be a great product if I could get the darn suction cups to stay!

This kind of scares me haha. I have a bird which weighs maybe less than 1 lb so this might actually be good for him!

Hmm… if only there were a better way to secure the lines, like placing them in between a closed a horizontal window (if that makes sense).

I can’t see suction cups being able to stay like that indefinitely, but certainly an interesting product concept!

My sister had been thinking about getting this for her cat. I will have to let her know that the suction cups don’t stick well. That could be a problem. Especially since her’s is an older cat. I would be afraid that he would fall and hurt himself. Especially since the TV is right beneath the window.

I’ve worked with suction cup holders before (for work) and I can tell you that AT LEAST 10, if not 12 suction cups would be needed to support an adult cat’s weight. The seat would also need support BELOW it, like open frame with suction cups. Doesn’t matter how big the suction cups are, rather how many. Wetting window would help the suction, but only for so long.

If you braced the bottom of the seat against the window frame and used the suction cups, it might work, but I would check it for secure “grip” daily.

Thank you so much for sharing this review!

Well, it is good to know that it doesn’t hold up. I would be nervous about using suction cups to support anything, let alone a cat! I am glad that no cats were harmed in the review 😉
