Tackling The Litterbox

These days, everyone is busy. As soon as you cross something off your “To-Do” list, another 3 seem to get added.  Sometimes we can let certain things slide, and get to it later.  Other things we can’t.  One of those things we could never let slide was scooping out the litter box.

With three cats, means three litter boxes.  Jewel, the little princess that she is, never covers her mess in the litter box. We are convinced she just doesn’t want to get her white paws dirty.  Luckily for us, one of the boys will usually cover it up for her if we don’t get to in in time.  We are always looking for litter that absorbs the odor quickly to eliminate smells.

Oliver, loves drinking water. I mean this cat doesn’t even like the other cats looking at the water bowls.  (*Because of his affection for water, the vet checked him out and did some tests, but everything came back normal*) All that water needs to come out of his body eventually.   Luckily because of all the water he drinks, his pee doesn’t stink too bad.  We have had a few bad experiences with litter where when he urinated, the litter kind of turned to mud and didn’t really clump.  It was such a pain to get out of the litter box!

Harley is like a kid playing in the sandbox. He has to move all the clumps around – usually all to one side, before he goes.  Because of that, we need a litter that clumps tight so they don’t break apart as he is moving them around.  We also don’t like litter that has a lot of dust because Harley likes to try to dig to China and has been known to kick up quite the dust storm! I can’t imagine what all that dust is doing to their little lungs!

World’s Best Cat Litter™ wanted us to try out a bag of their litter to see how it worked in our house. I chose the  Scented Multiple Cat Clumping Formula.  It was made with 100% all-natural scented lavender oil.  Each cat has their “own” litter box, but the boys seem to use whichever one they feel like at the time. Jewel on the other hand, only uses “hers” 90% of the time, and since hers tends to be the stinkiest, we chose to test out Worlds Best Cat Litter in hers.

This is our litter box area in the corner of our basement.
Litter box area
That corner tends to be dark, so that is why we have a camping lantern in it. Harley’s litter box is actually a Rubbermaid tote with an opening cut out on the side.  I needed something that was really big, and had high sides since he likes to “play” in it so much. Jewels litter box is the one in the right corner with the gold lid. It is a little hard to tell in the picture, but if you look close, you don’t see any dust on the inside of her box.  You do see the whitish/ gray dust from the clay based litters in the boys litter boxes on her lid though!  Im trying to “keep it real” but im actually a little embarassed to be posting this picture, because with the flash on my camera you can really see how much dust and litter is on the floor!  Ugh, add vacuuming that corner to tomorrows “To-Do” list!

Worlds Best Cat Litter Scented
World’s Best Cat Litter™ is the only litter made from whole-kernel corn. That means it has a naturally super-absorbent structure that keeps nasty odors and smells inside the litter.

World’s Best Cat LitterTM  solved all the problems for us!

  • It traps the liquid and limits the wetness from seeping, sinking to the bottom or sticking to the sides of the box.
  • Clumps quickly to trap nasty pet odors.
  • You can clean the box with less effort because it clumps so tight, you don’t have to scoop up all the little pieces that have broken apart.
  • The litter is soft, lightweight and dust free!  It contains no potentially harmful silica dust like other clumping litters.
  • It’s free of chemicals making it safe for pets, people and the planet
  • Let’s face it; scooping cat litter is also easier when you can’t smell it! This litter traps the odor in each clump!
  • World’s Best Cat Litter™ isn’t made from mined, drilled, or artificially made ingredients. It’s milled from renewable whole-kernel corn and other plant materials grown on American farms.
I REALLY like that there is ZERO dust in this litter! I also don’t mind the smell of the litter itself. Some scented litters smell really chemically to me, and I know cats have a more sensitive nose than us.  This scented litter smells really… natural. Obviously that is because it IS all natural, but the lavender scent is neither overwhelming, nor non existent.

We still try to scoop daily, but we know that if we miss a day, we won’t have any problems!

Oh my goodness, I have 3 cats and 4 litter boxes. It’s supposed to be my boys’ chore, but UGH, getting them to do it is nearly impossible and I agree, that dust drives me nuts!! Blech. I will definitely look into this!

WE have four cats and the litter box cleaning is such a pain. I am always up for trying new things when it comes to the litter box, so this looks great!

wow you have a lot of kittty boxes (so do we) I put a shower curtain liner under them to prevent the messy tracking. I love this cat litter I have had the pleasure of trying it before. It is a little pricey for me personally but if I could this would be the one I would buy the most.

I have 1 cat. I like your idea of using the big deep container with the hole cut in the side. I’m tempted to try it since my girl cat, that I thought should sit down to pee, seems to like spraying up the side of the box so it seeps through the join between the base and lid – my box looks the same as your gold one but with the door attached. The lavender litter sounds really good. I’d love to try it.

Worlds Best Cat Litter looks great. If we ever have another indoor cat, I will certainly try it out. Right now we only have barn cats.

We have three cats as well and let me tell you, it’s a stinking mess at times. The two sisters don’t like to cover their’s either and it’s enough to gag you at times.

Oh wow 3 cats? Thats a lot. I have a cat that is will be 5 this year and a kitten that is almost 4 weeks old. I think the lavender scented one would be great. I love that you have a lantern in the corner for them, we have a night light for our kitties.

I love the idea of the lavender scent. I have three cats myself and I know how much litter it takes and the mess they make. LOL. Dust free would be awesomeeee! I hate pouring in litter because that dust wants to jump up your nose. YUK!

    Awesome review.

Funny how all cats have their thing… I have three cats also my female doesn’t want to cover either. One of the males is so picky he like your one cat always uses the one box and wants it spotless when he gets there. I have heard many good things about World’s Best Cat Litter would love to try it on my picky boy’s box and see what he thinks.

wow, thats a big kitty box! LOL! i have 6 cats, so i too have a lot of boxes, each has their own. i really like the fact that its dustless. i usually wear a dust mask when i change mine, and i do worry about the cats inhaling that too. i also like that it clumps easily. i do scoop daily except when i have to go somewhere for a day or 2, my daughter doesnt do such a great job! would love to try this!

I desperately want to try this litter. We have a big problem with litter dust (it’s everywhere) and anything to rid us of that would be great! I am going to look for this the next time I am at the store!

I have a special needs kitty who sometimes will miss the litterbox or when he is in it fall down and make a mess… this looks like a very nice litter should that happen-I hear ya about the clay ones that turn to mud and this looks like it would be much better to get off him than that.

We started using this litter right away with our kitties. Took them a few days to get used to it, but now it is all we use. I love how well it works! So glad you got the opportunity to try it!

The litter sounds great. We have 5 cats and 4 litter boxes and it sounds like it would be a great type of litter to use.

I have wanted to try the Worlds Best for awhile now, but it’s hard to find where I live and it’s also expensive. Thank you for the heads up so that I know it’s worth the money. ladyvon at grm dot net.
