Tony is addicted to coffee.  I don’t even talk to him in the morning until he has finished at least one cup!

When I heard that Tyler’s Coffee was looking for people to review their coffee I jumped at the chance.
Tyler’s Coffee is unique in that they use a “Z-Roasting” process that optimizes the time the coffee beans are cooked; the result is high levels of caffeine and free of acid.

Since the coffee is acid free, your tooth enamel won’t become damaged. Also since there is no acid, even those with sensitive stomachs, or those that suffer from acid reflux can enjoy a cup of coffee.

Tyler’s Coffee is available in both regular and decaf. They use no chemicals to decaffeinate their coffee. Instead they use a Swiss Water Based Process to decaffeinate their Arabica coffee beans. Their Arabica beans are shipped from South America to their roasting factory in Arizona.

The first thing I noticed when I opened the sample they gave me was how fine the grinds were. They were also almost black, a lot darker than the usual coffee grinds we use.  Next I noticed the smell. It didn’t smell like any coffee I had ever smelled before. I figured it was attributed to the unique Z-Roasting process and proceeded to make my coffee.
I added cream and sugar, they way I normally would, and took a sip.  I thought it tasted weird – I cant really describe it, but it didn’t taste at all like any coffee I had before.  I think Tony saw my face and didn’t even want to try a cup. I had him take a sip from my cup and he didn’t like it either.  I tried a few more sips and eventually ended up dumping it.  I think it was just too strong for our taste.
After I dumped my cup, I noticed a dark somewhat thick liquid in the bottom of my cup – it almost looked like chocolate syrup!  I don’t know if maybe because Tyler’s Coffee is so finely ground if it perhaps made it through the filter and it collected at the bottom of my cup, or if it was just a fluke.  I should note that I DID use filtered water as recommended – we always use water from our britta to make coffee with.

I did see that the preferred method of brewing Tylers Coffee is to use a French Press – I used our regular coffee maker.

I may not have liked it, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try it – especially if you have a sensitive stomach!

in the 2006 holiday season a spot came on the shelf of an exclusive, high-end Arizona grocery store chain called AJ’s Fine Foods. The success at the store in Tucson was phenomenal, so much so that they are now in every branch of AJ’s throughout Arizona. They sold more coffee in a month than any other new coffee company found in AJ’s
