When I heard about a Smartphone holder made by i2 Gear that could hook into your CD slot I was intrigued and couldn’t wait to see if they would let me review it on my blog. Thankfully they let me review, it for free!
The car mount will support most GPS, smartphones and hybrid tablet devices up to approx 4.7 inches in width. The mount itself inserts into the CD drive and locks into place through the use of a screw and pressure lock. The slot is composed of two separate wedge inserts which expand in the opposite direction with each turn of the screw.
I really like that the mount has a full 360 swivel so you can position the phone vertically, horizontally and everything in between. You press a button and the side clamps slowly release so you can put your phone (or other device) in. Then you just slide the clamps closed and they will stay closed until you press the button to release the clamps.
It could be the style of cd player in my car, but when I have the holder mounted, I can’t see the display on my cd player. Now granted its not a big deal, but sometimes I like to see which station I am listening to or want to change to a certain station at a certain time and can’t see.
I thought for sure that my phone would fall out as I was driving, or that the whole mount would slide out of my cd player, but everything holds nice and tight, even over bumps!
