We found a stray kitty!

On Christmas morning this little guy showed up on our back steps. At first we couldn’t get near him, but every day he would come back and be braver. I’m sure the food we left out didn’t hurt either. Last night it was bitter cold and windy. For whatever reason kitty was being extra stubborn and wouldn’t come close enough for us to grab him,  so we left our KatKabin outside hoping he would sleep in it. You can read my review of the KatKabin here. Yes, we thought perhaps he was somebodies outdoor kitty, but it was going to be below zero with the windchill and they were predicting a foot of snow! I couldn’t leave any pet out there in that kind of weather!

Early this am, Tony went out to look for him and saw him under my car.  Kitty stared meowing like crazy. Tony was able to pick up the kitty and bring him in and put him downstairs. He was super skittish at first and hid a lot. Once he warmed up (literally and figuratively) he started exploring the room.

I have been checking online and in local stores since we first saw him to see if someone is missing a kitty, but so far no matches. I think tomorrow we will try to get him to the very to see if he is micro chipped, and to get him checked out. We don’t want to take someones kitty, if he has an owner. At first we were just going to bring him to a shelter but every time we even leave the room, or get out of his sight he whines.  He loves being pet, and having his ears rubbed.

This evening he finally used the litter box after Tony plopped him in it. Luckily the new kitty hasn’t tried to run up the stairs and get through the door, and Harley and Jewel aren’t scratching at the door to get down.  Harley and Jewel know the kitty is in the house – they can hear him meowing. The kitty downstairs knows we have kitties he can hear them every once in a while.

If I find out kitty has an owner, of course I would give him back, but if not, I think he is here to stay.  I mean, he showed up on Christmas morning – that has got to be some sort of sign right?

(Sorry for the low quality pictures, they are from my phone)

Oh, he is just darling! Thank you for taking him in!! I feel so bad for the animals that are left to fend for themselves outdoors. Brrrr… 🙁

I definitely think that he should stay! After all, he did come at Christmas. 🙂 I love brown tabby boys!!!

beautiful cat! We have 3 cats as well, I had 3 that grew old and one by one passed away when the last died and we had none left the Mr said no more, but I was so sad when my Zorro passed. Then someone tossed a cat out a window of the car in front of me and he ran into my car…a sign just like yours. A few days later my daughter got a cat from a shelter and she did not work out in her home (mine she does great..a sign right?) Then my daughter came home with a totally grey scraggly cat that I said find it a different home! but the mr fell in love with ( a sign right?) so now we are back to 3 hahaha I love cats they are the best pets when they fit!

Aw! That makes me happy 😀 I’m glad you would take care of him. I know a lot of people that would have ignored the cat unfortunately ._. It sounds like a friendly enough one!
