Our front garden Memorial Day Weekend 2011.  We were only living in our new townhouse for a few days and wanted to get the garden going.  We planted two Wine and Roses bushes in the back and three sets of Asiatic Lilies in the front.
Over last summer we added two Lavender plants in between the Lillies, and a little further back. They are the roundish low plants you see in the above picture They already bloomed quite early this spring.

This spring we added:

  • Two red dwarf rhododendrons – one in each back corner
  • A row of Purple Dutch Iris’s behind the Lillies, closer to the Wine and Rose Bushes
  • A row of pink and white orienta lillies in front of the Iris’s, but behind the original lillies
  • Two Veronica Royal Candle Plants – one in each front corner

One of the red dwarf rhododendrons.  Well, the tag said red, but they are actually more of a fuschia.
The big round planter has three different types of tomatoes.  The small square planter has Husky Red Tomatoes. I grew the Husky’s last year and LOVED them but I couldn’t find them anywhere at first, so I got the other varieties.  When I finally found the Husky’s at a nursery I HAD to buy them!  This year I am also going to try strawberries!

My First Strawberry!
A friend from work gave me two strawberry planters that he was going to throw out.  I had a hard time finding healthy looking strawberry plants other than the one I already had so I decided to get creative. We put Foxglove in the top of the planters and dwarf Celosia in the little side pockets.  We really wish we would have had more room in the front garden – the Celosia are so cool looking!

Beautiful gardens! I love plants but have so much trouble trying to keep my poor plants alive. Yours look like they are thriving!
