Just happened to see this post while looking for ideas on updating my Freedom Grill. I see that you painted the top portion blue as well. How did that work out at the higher temperatures? What type of paint did you use? I was just going to leave the top part the original black. Thoughts?

We used high heat engine paint from an auto parts store. It took us a while to get the hang of painting it. We had to do very thin layers of paint over the course of a few VERY LOW humidity days otherwise it would bubble as it was drying. Every few years we wet sand down any areas that are showing wear and repaint them.
