Most people choose to travel during the summer months when it’s nice and warm outside, but traveling during the fall also has plenty of benefits. The temperature outside is not too hot and not too cold, allowing you to enjoy both indoor and outdoor activities. The changing colors of the trees and flowers also make for a beautiful atmosphere, and since most travel destinations are not as busy as they were during the summer, you can snatch some great deals.

The following are five of the best vacation destinations to visit during the fall.

Niagara Falls, New York

Niagara Falls is a sight to see, and the crisp fall air in New York keeps most tourists away and allows you to enjoy the sights and the boat rides without the crowd. The Maid of the Mist boat ride will take you right to the base of the waterfall, and you may even be able to take the ride with an empty boat, making picture taking and water viewing much easier. You can also hike a trail near Niagara Falls, and doing this in the fall allows you to see colorful leaves and enjoy an emptier trail. Plus, the cooler temperatures ensures that you can hike longer without feeling exhausted.

Twin Cities, Minnesota

Minneapolis and St. Paul Minnesota are extremely beautiful in the fall season. There are plenty of sights to see, and you can enjoy many different festivals and fairs. There are also orchards in the area that you can visit and pick fresh fruits. Plus, shopping is always plentiful, or take a stroll on the University of Minnesota campus.

As for lodging, there are numerous cabins you can rent along one of the many lakes. You can enjoy fishing, ATV riding, hunting, and other activities.

Boulder, Colorado

The Rocky Mountains are extremely beautiful during the fall due to the changing colors, and Boulder puts you right in the heart of the Rockies. During the fall months, you can also enjoy the many camping grounds offered in Boulder and truly take in the Rockies and the crisp atmosphere. There is also plenty of restaurants for you to enjoy, and the right amount of shopping to fulfill your retail therapy needs.

Napa Valley, California

Wine country may always be a great place to visit, but visiting during the fall is always a treat. Napa Valley boasts over 250 wineries, but the valley itself is also gorgeous during the fall months. Restaurants, shops, and gorgeous towns adorn the valley, and you can see it all with the amazing fall colors as a backdrop. Stay at a hotel or cozy up in a vintage bed and breakfast, and don’t forget to take in some of the other wonderful attractions, such as hot air balloon rides and wine tours.

Gatlinburg, Tennessee

Rent a cabin in the Smoky Mountains during the fall, and you may never want to go back home. The temperature in Gatlinburg is perfect—nice enough to enjoy the outside attractions like mini-golf, hiking, horseback riding, and go-carting, and cool enough to enjoy a nice dip in your hot tub while overlooking the colorful trees and scenery. Gatlinburg also has plenty of festivals and fairs for you to enjoy, and attractions like Dollywood are not too far away.

If you want to take a trip during the fall months, make sure to visit one of these five places. You’ll truly have an unforgettable experience.
