Can NISIM NewHair Biofactors Shampoo Control Hair Loss?

If you are a regular reader, you know I have been trying out Nisim F.A.S.T. Shampoo and Conditioner. I recently stopped using that one, and have been trying out NISIM NewHair BioFactors Shampoo for Normal To Dry Hair – Deep Cleaning Shampoo.  I was sent an 8oz bottle for free to try out.

Nisim NewHair Biofactors Shampoo claims to control excessive hair loss in one week. This unique deep cleansing shampoo has been specially formulated to maximize a clean and nutrient-rich environment for healthy hair growth. Nisim Shampoos are GUARANTEED to reduce excessive hair loss for men or women within one week when used as directed.

The shampoo effectively removes the build-up of sweat, oils, and dirt, all of which contribute to hair loss, as well as neutralizing the DHT (dihydrotestosterone) on the surface of the scalp. DHT is the most common cause of hair loss. This shampoo is formulated for people with Normal to Dry hair or scalps.  They also have a Normal to Oily version.

The shampoo contains no potentially harmful chemicals as it is free of sulfates, parabens, and cocamide DEA. Generally, there are no side effects associated with using this shampoo.

One-hundred and forty-eight participants with varying degrees of male pattern baldness (androgenic alopecia) participated in an open-ended study using an all natural compound solution to determine the effects of hair regrowth.

After five months of treatment, the participants were re-photographed and hair counts were done on the same 2.5 cm diameter area of the scalp. The results indicate that 85.7% of the men in the study had an increase in their terminal hairs of 30% or greater.

Showing significant regrowth was 40.8% of the study group and had an increase of 100% or greater (doubling, tripling, or more) of terminal hairs counted on their five month post-treatment photo as compared to their initial pre-treatment photo.

My Thoughts

The shampoo smells really nice, almost like sweet tea.  It suds up really nice and was easy to work into my hair.  When I rinsed it out my hair felt really dry – like straw.  Nisim does offer a Finishing Rinse Conditioner but it was not part of my review.  Perhaps the conditioner would have helped.  I ended up using the NISIM F.A.S.T Conditioner because my hair always needs a conditioner, and I felt it needed it more so after using the BioFactors Shampoo.

One thing I do want to point out is that the Shampoo is Guaranteed to work within one week when used as directed.  They say that It is very important that you wash your hair daily, and that you wash rinse and repeat.  My hair is too dry to wash daily – I wash it every other day.  I think a lot of people are also going to miss that whole REPEAT part.  They say a bottle can last 4-6 weeks, but I believe that would be more geared towards men or women with very short hair – especially if you are washing your hair twice a day.

Nisim also recommends that you use this shampoo with their Hair and Scalp Gel Extract. The Gel extract was not included as part of my review.  Nisim’s Hair and Scalp Gel Extract includes AnaGain.  Based on organic pea sprouts, AnaGain is designed to stimulate specific signal molecules in the dermal papilla required to reactivate hair growth.

Many users also point out that these products may not have an optimum effect on men and women suffering from hair loss, not as a result of Dihydrotestosterone (DHT).

This shampoo, Conditioner, and Gel are also much more expensive than normal hair care products. However, when compared to other hair loss treatments it is affordable.  The 8oz bottle of shampoo retails for $29.95 on their website.  The NISIM Finishing Conditioner runs you $24.95.  An 8oz bottle of the Hair and Scalp Gel Extract retails for $95.95 on their website.  They do offer a Tri-Pack that contains all 3 products for $133.30 – so if you want to give it a try, the Tri-Pack is a great way to save some money.

On the NISM website, Amazon and a few other sites I have checked, all the NewHair Biofactors products have great reviews, and people swear that it works when used as directed. NISIM began selling the NewHair BioFactors starting back in 1993 so the fact that it has been around for 27 years tells me they must be doing something right.  Originally the NewHair BioFactors line was sold exclusively through salons and authorized distributors only.

So Does It Really Work?

I will have to defer to the positive clinical trials, and other user’s reviews which point to yes, it does really work.  I can’t wash my hair every day which is something they require. My hair is too dry and also, the cost is too prohibitive for me to buy all the associated products they recommend to really put the product to my own test.
