There is no doubt that CBD has a wide range of benefits for our body and mind. For the benefits we are talking about there is a lot of scientific proof after a lot of research. In fact, the interesting thing about the scientific studies on CBD is that it was first done on humans. After proving to be very beneficial for the human race, people thought about trying it for animals also. The fact is that CBD can be as beneficial for animals too, especially for pets like dogs and cats.
Our cat friends can benefit from the therapeutic properties of CBD much more than we think. In the same way as in humans, CBD acts on cats through the endocannabinoid system, which is also present on cats. As we know the endocannabinoid system is responsible for taking care and regulating important body functions. Sleep, pain, mood, or immune balance, are some of the functions we are talking about. CBD manages to communicate with receptors or balancers of all these functions.
Therapeutic properties of CBD for cats
CBD is very famous in the medical field for humans. The therapeutic field is increasingly appreciating CBD for all the beneficial properties. Although there is much more research on humans, lately the scientific research is focusing on the possible benefits of cannabidiol for pets. Since CBD for cats is our main topic, let’s just dive into the relations between CBD and cats.
We already wrote above that the effects of CBD on cats are very similar to the effects of CBD on humans. As a result, CBD in cats helps treat numerous health conditions, including:
- inflammations
- various kinds of infections
- anxiety
- stress
- aggression
- lack of energy
- loss of appetite
- and much more
After reading about all these issues, we can clearly understand the role of CBD in the well-being of our cats. With the intake of CBD oil for cats, other pathologies also regress and as a result, the overall state of health improves. Just like with other pets, for instance, dogs, acute pathologies, arthritis, and other issues are also present on cats. CBD is a natural remedy for treating pain with its anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties.
What dosage of CBD should we use for cats?
When analyzing the physical structure of cats, we logically agree that the average dosage for cats is lower than the dosage for humans. For humans, the weight and the age of the user are very important in determining the dosage, together with the issue we treat. For cats, on the other hand, there are fewer doubts, mainly because there is less difference between cats on the base of weight. Either way, the CBD products for cats have every possible detail written and it will not be a problem.
We recommend you that before buying CBD for cats, make a visit to the veterinarian of your cat for more valuable information. Today’s vets are quite updated on the effects of CBD on cats. As a result, a visit to the vet can be determinant on deciding to use CBD for your cat. But, keep in mind that every CBD product for cats has instructions on the package that you can follow. A good way to start is with low doses, and increase it every one or two weeks. Of course based on the results and effects of the dosage on your cat. The dosage is normally measured based on the weight and varies from 0.1 to 0.5 milligrams per kilogram of the cat. Use it 2 times a day, away from main meals.
Does CBD in cats have side effects?
People do not usually report any serious side effects for cats. But, excessive dosage of CBD can make your cat fall asleep. That is why you should think of the dosage and the administration seriously and keep track of the results and the reactions of the cat.
In the end, we can say that CBD is very beneficial and improves the overall health of cats. Just like humans, even cats can suffer from different kinds of pathologies. Cats need proper treatment and considering the naturality of CBD, it may be the best option for your cat. Do not hesitate to give it a try as it can really help. Another important thing to know is that you can find CBD products for cats online or in shops everywhere.
It’s great to hear that CBD can also be beneficial for our feline friends too!
We traveled a lot when we had a cat (our dear Hampton whom we lost last September). Our vet recommended that we try a low dosage of CBD added to his food and he seemed to tolerate it very well. The vet then mixed the same dose to an oil diffuser and we could have it in our house during our time away. Nice post for all cat lovers out there
I never thought about adding it to a diffuser for pets!
oh! CBD for cats!!! That is something that I will definitely try out. I lost my cat last year after a few months of a complete loss of appetite. I wish I knew!!!
Towards the end of our Jewels life she was barely eating but hated the appetite stimulant the vet gave us – Im sure it tasted like medicine even when we mixed it with food. I wish I would have known about CBD back then!
This would work great when moving with a cat. It will help them manage stress so much better.
It’s good to know that CBD has other benefits for pets as well.
Thanks for this well-written post!
This is good to know for our pets as they age, which seems to be a time that they’d benefit from CBD oil.
For all cat lovers this is a great topic and one will love to adopt the steps mentioned here
I didn’t even know what CBD was before I read this post. It looks like it has lots of benefits, I don’t have a cat myself but I have shared with friends who do.
Thanks for sharing
