Quite a few of the classmates I went to highschool with have become Registered Nurses. For example, one is an overnight delivery nurse and says she couldn’t imagine having any other job. Another is a psychiatric nurse, and often stresses on social media that more attention needs to be paid to mental illness. It doesn’t surprised me that 9/10 RN’s are female. I have no issue with the gender of a nurse, but I know there has long been a stereotype that Doctors are male, and Nurses are Female. I have a close family friend that is a male RN and he loves his job! With the increased focus on preventative screenings for cancer and other diseases, I believe nursing jobs will only to increase in demand. If you are looking into becoming a nurse, Maryville University Online has some great options!
