Since 1979, PetGuard has created delicious pet foods in the USA. PetGuard created wholesome, natural foods with quality ingredients, free of preservatives, artificial colors, sweeteners, and by-products before anyone else had them commercially available. At PetGuard, they believe that your pet deserves the best, and PetGuard foods are designed to help PetGuardians™ guard their pets’ health and happiness.
I was recently provided a sampler box of PetGuard food for my cats, Harley and Oliver to try.
Harley was starting to get a little frisky with Oliver so I knew it was time to let them try the PetGuard® Lifespan Chicken Brown Rice Recipe dry food as their afternoon snack. I left the remaining kibble in the bag on the counter, to save for another day’s snack.
We are in the process of redoing our basement “fan cave” (stay tuned for a post about that!) so after they finished eating, I went back downstairs to get to work. After a few minutes, we heard a weird noise so I ran upstairs to see what the cats were doing.
This is what we found on the floor.
Apparently, it was so good, they couldn’t wait to tear into the bag and eat the rest!
Each night the boys would get a different flavor of PetGuard Wet food to try, and they would scarf it down. Harley has been really picky lately – he refuses to eat anything that has vegetable chunks in it. I wasn’t surprised when he didn’t want to eat the PetGuard Organic Chicken and Vegetable Formula wet cat food. Harley did eventually eat most of it, but we could tell he really didn’t care too much for it. I think their favorite flavor in the box was savory seafood.
PetGuard has quality ingredients I trust
Now that Harley is in early-stage kidney disease, we are paying more attention to ingredients in his food. Harleys numbers are still “ok” so we don’t need to put him on prescription food, but we do give him two supplements twice a day. We have talked about how high-quality protein is really important. I love that on the PetGuard website you can go to their ingredient page and see where each ingredient is sourced from, and why it is included. I have never seen a company be so transparent with their ingredients before.
The PetGuard philosophy embodies their commitment to your pets, to provide only natural alternatives for a healthier environment and lifestyle. People today are concerned with the important relationship between nutrition and health – not just for ourselves, but for our pet’s health too. That is why it is important to seek products free of artificial ingredients, by-products, colors, preservatives, excess sugars, and salt.
PetGuard products are available on Amazon, Chewy and PetFlow. They are also available through natural, organic food stores and selected premium health-oriented supermarkets. If you don’t see it, ask for it.

Hee hee this is so cute to see that your cats opened the bag themself! Couldn’t contain themselves anymore. I honestly haven’t heard of this brand yet, I feed my cat pampers, but I like the fact that it is free from preservatives.
Reading your post makes me think back to a few years ago when my husband and I were looking after two dogs for a family while they were on vacation. These two Jack Russells would not eat their dog pellets without a scoop of tinned cat food on top. I would imagine that they would LOVE this PetGuard brand!
Man they gobbled that up lol! I haven’t heard of this brand but do they make dog food as well? I love that it’s free from all that horrible bad stuff that is in a lot of pet foods. Also, I know you’ve mentioned it before but I cannot for the life of me remember. What widget do you use for your little cat icons for the share buttons?
I think you are wonderful to take such good care of your pets! I am sorry that Harley has early stage kidney disease and that Petguard has the right food to care for him! Sounds like a good brand. Those videos were so enjoyable to watch, Diane!
Never heard of this brand before. Love the pics of the cats trying to get the bag opened. My cats are always nudging their food at me to pour out if I had forgot to do so.
