There is a subscription box for just about everything these days, so why not one for Litter? Don’t you hate having to lift heavy litter boxes in and out of your cart at the store, and then in and out of your car?  What if I told you a single 4lb bag of PrettyLitter would last an entire month in a one cat household? If you can lift your cat, you can lift this bag of litter!  Not only is this litter lighter than traditional litters, it also monitors your cats health!

How PrettyLitter Monitors Your Cats Health

Cats are notorious for hiding illnesses, so it’s often hard to tell if they are sick or in pain. PrettyLitter makes it easier for you to know if your cat is experiencing a potential health issue before urgent medical care is needed, saving you money, stress and potentially your cat’s life.

Potential health issues that can be associated with color change include:

  • ALKALINE – certain types of urinary tract infections. High urinary pH can lead to bladder crystal and stone formation.

  • ACIDITY – Metabolic acidosis & kidney tubular acidosis. Low urinary pH can lead to Calcium Oxalate.
  • BLOOD – Bladder inflammation, bladder Stones, urinary tract infection.

If you have been here before you might recall that Oliver has had issues with crystals in his urine, as well as urinary tract infections.  With Clay litter it is so hard to tell what is going on, other than trying to see if the volume of  urine has changed. You can’t really see blood or crystals unless you collect a urine sample, and all cat owners know how hard that can be!

After the first incident we switched Oliver almost exclusively wet food, and keep special urinary health dry food on hand that we can leave out if we are going to be gone during their normal meal time and he hasn’t had any issues since, but we are always nervous that something could be going on that we just aren’t seeing.

OLiver pretty litter

As soon as Oliver saw that there was a clean litter box full of a new kind of litter he had to jump in and dig around in it! I was worried that he might not like the texture but  he doesn’t seem to have any issues with it at all.  I was thankful that his urine showed that he was in the normal range – although maybe a little on the acidic side. Oliver is due for his Senior exam soon, and Harley has to go in for his geriatric work up  – When did my babies get so old!. I will be able to mention any concerns that the PrettyLitter has brought to light. Only a licensed Veterinarian can diagnose any specific issue your cat is experiencing. However, you can use the color change as a guide to help your Vet.

PrettyLitter is tough on odor!

I had never used a non-clumping litter before, so I was nervous that it wouldn’t do a good job controlling the odor. Boy was I wrong! PrettyLitter is odorless. When in contact with urine, it traps the odor and then eliminates the moisture.  We have 5 litter boxes and usually you can smell when its time for them to be cleaned.  Our cats have developed a bad habit of not really covering this business – they sort of drop and go.   I could see the feces and urine in the box that had the PrettyLitter, but I couldn’t smell it!  The feces were easy to scoop out, and I just stirred the remaining litter around.

PrettyLitter is Long-Lasting!

I love that a 4lb bag lasts an entire month (for one cat).  With clay litter  I feel like we are constantly ordering large tubs of it to keep the litter at an proper level in the box.

PrettyLitter is made of super absorbent, lightweight silica gel. SIlica gel crystals are extremely absorbent, more so than other litter substrates, so you need less of it to do the same job. Since you are only scooping out feces, you don’t need to keep adding litter.  The best part – no more scooping heavy urine clay clumps that break apart as you try to lift them out! I’ve also noticed that the cats are tracking litter a lot less when they use the box with the PrettyLitter. There also wasn’t really any dust when I was pouring it into the box.

Do you have a self-cleaning litter box? First of all I am jealous. Second of all  PrettyLitter’s sand-like texture works great with most automated self-cleaning litter boxes. If your litter box already works well with other crystal litters it will work great with PrettyLitter!

I don’t think I have even heard of this before, but I am loving what this has to offer my cats.

I’ve thought about this because we have three asthmatic cats and the low dust aspect is very appealing to us.
