Disclosure: I received this product as part of an advertorial.

GE Reveal Stock PhotoI recently was given the opportunity to review a different kind of GE light bulb than last time. This time I got to review the GE Lighting 75406 13-Watt CFL Spiral Reveal Light Bulb for free. These are 13-watt Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) which act as a replacement for 60-watt incandescent bulbs, saving on energy and costs.

What makes these bulbs special is Neodymium Glass which filters out yellow light spectrum.  This lighting is perfect for home owners that like to bring out crisp designer colors in their home.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAs soon as the light bulbs arrived, Oliver insisted on checking them out.  For whatever reason, he thought they were for him.  That table he is on is actually downstairs in my home office next to my computer desk.  We don’t allow the cats on tables normally, that one in the picture, is the one exception because we don’t eat on it.

So far we have only used these light bulbs in our bathroom because that was the only place we had a burned out bulb that needed replaced. GE in bathroom comparisonAs you can see in the photo, the GE reveal CFL is less yellow than the store brand CFL’s I also have installed, but it also appears slightly pinker.  You can see from the picture above how the NON-GE bulbs have a slightly greenish/yellow cast to them. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Above is a better picture comparing a store brand CFL to the GE Reveal CFL. You can clearly see that the store brand CFL has a more yellow glow, while the GE reveal CFL has a less harsh, pinker glow. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA The GE Reveal CFL has a shorter, wider coil than the store brand CFL but it fits into the same socket. I would imagine you wouldn’t have any trouble getting it to fit in any lamps in your home because it is not THAT much different in shape, but it is something to be aware of.

These bulbs are rated to last an average of 8,000 hours, which under normal usage would be about 7 years (Based on 3hrs/day).  Being that this one was installed in our bathroom, I would think it would probably last even longer, since it would be on much less per day than compared to say a kitchen, or living room light. Overall I am very pleased with this style of GE reveal lighting.  I love that these bulbs have a less yellow hue than other brand bulbs.  We also have been enjoying the “whiter” light in our basement  thanks to GE light bulbs we obtained during a previous review.

Ge reveal prize packGE would like to offer my fans a giveaway!  You will receive the same pack of GE Reveal light bulbs that I did.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
