A while back I had the pleasure of reviewing the Soniclear from Michael Todd Beauty. You can read my review here. I still use my Soniclear all the time in the shower – it really helps exfoliate dry skin, and it does a great job deep cleaning my face. Since then I have been very interested in trying other products from Michael Todd Beauty, and was thrilled when I was recently selected to review their Grape Seed Cleansing Oil for free.
Michael Todd Beauty Grape Seed Cleansing Oil is an all-natural cleanser and moisturizer made from concentrated grape seed oil (67%) blended with organic sunflower, orange and lemon grass oils.
A great way to get rid of skin sebum and oil is by using another oil to cleanse. This is known as the Oil Cleansing Method (“OCM”) and relies on the basic principal of chemistry that “like dissolves like” which in this case means “oil dissolves oil.”
We have been conditioned to think that we need to dry out the skin to address oily or blemished skin. But that’s not true. Our skin is not meant to be stripped of its natural oil. When it feels dry, it tries to repair itself and will overcompensate for the lack of moisture by producing additional oil.
This oil can help heal blemishes caused by mild to moderate acne and promote healthy, balanced and properly moisturized skin.
Grape seed oil contains high quantities of Vitamin E and F and also minerals like zinc potassium, copper, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron and selenium. But most of all grape seed oil is rich in proanthocyanidins (OPC) a compound that is high in antioxidants which are 50 times more effective than Vitamin E and 20 times stronger than Vitamin C.
I had never tried an oil cleanser before so I was surprised to see that you apply this with dry hands to dry skin, something I wish I realized before I hopped in the shower. It was no big deal, the towel rack is right next to the shower so I just leaned out, dried my hands and face. I usually put two pumps in my hand and slowly massage it all over my face and neck. It smells wonderful, but isn’t too strongly scented. I usually let it sit on my skin for a little bit while I apply my shampoo and then I rinse everything off at once. My face feels SO soft when I get out of the shower. My T-zone gets REALLY dry after using other cleansers, but after using the Grape Seed Oil Cleanser, everything feels moisturized. Despite this being an oil based cleanser, it rinses completely without leaving any greasy residue behind.
