My First Nebulizing Essential Oil Diffuser – Danau Satu Deluxe

I have been using essential oils for a while now in diffusers, and have recently learned about nebulizers for essential oils.

A lot of diffusers work by just  humidification—by using water and essential oil mixed together, a mist can be formed which will fill the air. This mist is produced either by a fan, heat or ultrasonic waves of energy. Heat can affect the chemical composition of the oils and when water is used, oils are diluted.

A Nebulizer is different. Is a process which forces the break down of essential oils into very tiny particles. It requires a high velocity, pressurized air stream and a specially designed jet nozzle. The rate of evaporation is highly accelerated and occurs almost instantly. Since nebulizers do not use water to get their essential oils into the air, they will not change the humidity of your room.

When Ultama Spice contacted me to see if I would be interested in reviewing their Danau Satu – a deluxe nebulizing personal diffuser , I jumped at the chance! Look how beautiful it looks!

The Danau Satu can emit a very heavy, all-natural fragrance across a wide area in minutes. The best part is that it uses no heat, no fire and definitely no plastic.  It is totally natural using pure essential oil only.

Even though the package came from the other side of the world, it arrived quickly, and was packaged well. The actual product box was in a larger box, surrounded by foam padding. The same padding was on the inside of the product box, surrounding each part.

However,The glass cap that goes on top of the globe part was broken, and as soon as I let them know,  they sent me a replacement.  They have since made some changed to how the glass is packaged so no one else has this issue.  Working with customer service was a breeze, and there was no hassles!

They were also very understanding when my girl, Jewel, crossed the rainbow bridge, and I needed a few more days to gather my thoughts for the review.  Jewel is the middle cat in my banner at the top of my page.  Turns out they are pet lovers too!

I know there is a lot of information on the internet lately about using essential oils around your pets, specifically cats.  If you have any questions or concerns about what essential oils are safest to use around your pets, I would ask that you contact your vet.  The ASPCA also has some information that you may find helpful. I keep my Essential oils out of reach of my cats, and since I don’t apply any topically I don’t have to worry about it being transferred to my cats, and having them ingest it.  As for using a diffuser / nebulizer – generally my cats aren’t in the room when I am using essential oils.

The first time I used it, I was curious about how it would work, so I used water.  It was so cool, to see how the water beads would separate into teeny tiny drops and then get blown up the tube and out the cap!

I got out as much water as I could, and then added pure lavender essential oil.  It was amazing how fast the nebulizer broke up the oil into what looked like a foggy mist inside the glass globe! Puffs of air would send it flying out the cap every so often.

Here is a great Youtube video they put together explaining how to use it.

The Danau Satu nebulizer doesn’t take up much space on my night stand , but packs a powerful punch when nebulizing essential oils.

Utama Spice also sent me  Cajeput oil to review.  I had never heard of this oil so I was eager to learn more!

It is a slightly medicinal smelling oil that carries a fruity camphor aroma with hyacinth and herbaceous undertones. Properties include antimicrobial, astringent, analgesic, stimulant, and anti-inflammatory, and as a natural bug repellent. Cajeput’s antiseptic and expectorant properties make it excellent for respiratory tract infections such as colds, laryngitis, bronchitis and it may be helpful for asthma, as well as nasal and sinus congestion. Pain relieving properties make it useful in massage for neuralgia, headaches, muscle stiffness and general aches and pains.  I will definitely be trying it when I get my next cold or migraine!
