I have recently read a lot of posts on facebook talking about how people no longer use a flat sheet. I read through the comments and see so many people who don’t use a flat / top sheet it blows my mind. What do these people sleep with in the summer? If you are one of those people let me know your reason why you don’t use a flat sheet – I am so curious! I have always used a flat sheet. In the winter I use it as an extra layer of warmth, and in the summer it is the only thing I use to sleep, as a blanket would be too hot. We have 3 sets of sheets that we rotate through so we always have a fresh set no matter how behind we are on laundry.

Honeymoon Home Fashions recently reached out to me and asked if I wanted to review one of their products. A proud producer of fine bedding, Honeymoon Home Fashions strives to bring you a great night’s sleep and your bedroom a positively dreamy look. You can snooze with their sheets, duvet covers and blankets. I immediately jumped at the chance, because who doesn’t love brand new sheets! I chose the Queen Sheet Set Luxury Silky Like Satin Bed Sheets, in Leopard. All of our other sheets are solid, and we have never tried silky sheets before, so I was ready to try something different.

  • As soft and comfortable as silk fabric, and offer timeless luxury at a modern price (A queen set was only $29.99 at the time this post was published)
  • Includes Complete Set: 1)Flat Sheet 90″x102″; 1)Fitted Sheet 60″x80″; 2)Pillowcases 20″x30″
  • Suitable for all – year round use, the satin fabric makes you cool in hot summer. In the winter, satin’s silky touch provides a welcome layer under down comforters or fluffy duvets. The top layer creates cozy warmth while the satin layer provides petal-soft luxury.

How do they fit and feel?

Honeymoon Home Furnishings Harley On BedMy sheets arrived quickly and I was eager to put them on the bed.  As usual, Harley wanted to “help” me with all aspects of changing the sheets.  I was pleasantly surprised how deep the fitted sheet was!  Most sheets don’t really fit and we have to use straps to hold the fitted sheet in place. Our mattress is thick, and we have a memory foam topper on it as well, but the Honeymoon Home Fashions sheets fit perfectly!

We have never had silky sheets before but I love the feel of these! They are so soft and silky! I love sleeping on them! With these silky sheets that is how it feels for me every night! My legs and arms just glide along the sheets!

Does our bed frame look familiar? It’s the same one they had on King of Queens!

You will want to follow Honeymoon Home on Facebook, because they are always doing great giveaways!  While you are there, make sure you give us a follow on facebook too!

Honeymoon Home Fashions has you covered for back to school too! They have Bed-In-A-Bag sets in Twin XL for college kids. They also have all the standard sizes pf sheets and blankets for other sizes of beds as well.

I wonder if the no-top-sheet is a generational thing. It’s much easier to make the bed if they just throw the comforter over the bed.

While I still use a top sheet, one of my closest friends has not used a top sheet since she lived in Germany. She uses a duvet instead–and, actually, two duvets, overlapping, on the bed she shares with her husband. I think that is a genius idea. They kind of meet in the center and overlap, but there is less tugging and pulling and neither is ever left in the cold when the other one rolls over and takes the cover with them. She explained to me that the top sheet was originally designed to keep the quilt clean from one’s body oils, but using a duvet with a cover takes care of that problem as the cover is easily removable and washable. It seems sensible when explained that way, and seems like whether one uses a top sheet is just a cultural, habitual thing.
